Hey wasup man!
First i gotta say to you is welcome to Taiwan!
im really honoured that i live in the same city as Coolaler, even though Taichung isn't a big city, but it's considered as a big one in this country (i guess? lol)

For your questions, i had the same issues back in summer~cuz i was looking for all the top line components to build up my new pc.
Unfortunately, those high-end stuff are low quantities in stock, so basically if you are looking for top line products in Taiwan, you gotta make a special order at any store! (well, most of stores, cuz some BIG stores might have in stock rite away)

Few concepts to let you know, usually high priced products mean high profit, so sellers love to receive customers who make special orders, cuz that means more $$ in their pocket lol
when you make a special order, you need to make a certain amount of money as deposit, normally you will receive a call from the store telling you that your stuff is arrived.
Taiwan is known as low pricing cuz it has variety of brands that compete in this tiny country, more competitions give us(customers) great deals, but only for major stuff, if a product is very popular on market, the price will drop! If the product is not popular enough, the price stays high, that's common sense i think.

So, if you are looking for mid-range pc components, a lot of stores in taiwan offers great deals, but not the top of the line products...;oq;

since Taipei is the capital, i assume the lowest price you can find is in that city...among those stores, that you gotta dig out yourself, i can't really help out, cuz im not familiar with that city lol

but i can give you a link, just to give you an idea the pricing on certain pc components! (well, a lot of ppl are saying this store is a rip-off, but according to their price list, i think it's pretty decent though)
Here is the link:
http://www.kingtech.com.tw/download/webprice/光華報價單.htm

I think that for top of the line pc components, US got the best deals around the world! Taiwan got good deals on low-range and mid-range stuff~;em03;

3800+ X2 socket 940
dual 512 adata vitesta ram (1 gig :O)
Asus M2N DH mobo....(shithouse)
7300LE (biggest peice of shit runs css @ 25 fps)
Seagate 16M sata II 250gig HD
coolermaster cooler :) :D
and some shitty case with built in PSU
i got the 3800 to clock @ 2.65 but not stable. could only prime for about two hours.. zzz... im guessing its the mobo because its a peice of shit.. i couldnt find any stores with decent DFI mobos (they own) but i love the ram... looks like adata is coming out with some pretty quality products.. so i guess ill just have to keep supporting taiwanese RAM..

hehe, you finally decided to go with AMD~~
I built an AM2 rig for my cousin who is currently in sec 4 back in summer, around august or sometime around there :D

adata is a decent brand, but i kinda had a bad experience with their vitesta serie ram...so, i dunno~i went with G.Skill afterward, it was a wonderful experience!

lol...i used the same mobo for my cousin with 4200+ cuz it was so cheap~ha!

but i went with 7600GS instead of 7300~hehe, 512MB RAM version was a bit expensive, i went with 256MB one~

i should've gone with seagate 7200.10 320GB, but i figured it was fine for her to use 250GB, with WD caviar...;x;

didn't oc at all, just stock voltage and speed, with decent ASUS vento 7700 case and some unknown brand psu...lol

Hope that PC can hold for 3 yrs at least....;oq; ;oq; ;oq;
