目前Intel Z68晶片組已經算是接近上市時程，主機板製造商開始轉移注意力到X79晶片組上面，並計劃於今年的台北國際電腦展（ComputeX）展出。
Intel X79的晶片組代號為Patsburg-HEDT，它將與Sandy Bridge-E構成Waimea Bay平台。X79主機板預定於今年八月推出，而Sandy Bridge-E大概會晚一個月。
