Microsoft admits Halo:Reach flaw

Disc read error
Software giant Microsoft has confirmed that a small number of Halo: Reach players are suffering from a mysterious spate of ‘disc read’ errors.

In a statement, Microsoft said that it was aware of a very small number of customers reporting that their copy of Halo: Reach is causing a ‘disc read’ error. Redmond has not yet come up with a definitive reason for the problem or
said that faulty copies will be replaced. Instead it wants Reach players affected by the problem to contact Microsoft customer support at 1-800-4MY-XBOX for troubleshooting assistance.

The ‘disc read’ error seems to hurt older 20GB Pro models of the Xbox 360 and the 120GB Elite edition of Microsoft’s console. Since the game released on September 14 it has faced several technical problems. Owners of the new 4GB flash-based version of Microsoft’s console fumed that they could not access the game’s cooperative multiplayer component because they don’t have an on-board hard drive (HDD).
