Suzuki RGV250 Gamma 1987—1997

RGV250 Gamma is a motorcycle for you if you don't like compromises and want to own a bike that is as near a racing bike as possible. It has been designed one one thing is mind: to ride as fast as possible from one curve to another. If you touring plans, forget this bike!

RGV250 Gamma was based on the RG250 Gamma, a slightly less sportier motorcycle and with a less modern 2-stroke engine.


The chassis of the RGV250 is very light, smooth and also very stable. The weight of the bike is very low, only 128 kg (282 lbs) for the first version. The engine is a 90° aluminum V-twin (later 70°) water-cooled 2-stroke delivering 68-67 hp at very high rpm's (the stock bike power output vary between countries, from 40 to 67 bhp). Because the machine is mainly purposed for racing, a trim kit for 70 bhp is offered by Suzuki.

For the 1991 year's model the RGV250 Gamma was updated with new carburetors (from 32 mm to 34 mm), power valves and new front suspension. A new semi-frame banana swingarm was introduced (looks a lot like the one used in Honda NSR). It gave better ground clearance and allowed to draw the exhaust pipes where the swingarm should have been. Both exhaust pipes were now drawn at the same side of the bike. The new swingarm stiffened the rear end quite dramatically but also increased the weight from 129 kg to 139 kg. With a new rear swingarm the front end was also rebuilt with the new upside down suspension forks, which had a good design but the performance was not as good as the old forks which it replaced. The power output and torque was increased slightly and a 17" rear wheel added to the list of upgrades.

With the introduction of the power valves came the biggest problem of the RGV250. The valve valves wears down from opening and closing and can collide with the piston and brake. Happens sometimes in bikes with high milage.

The RGV250SP uses a dry clutch and special 32mm carburetors with sensors for the airbox pressure. The bike also has electric start and uses ram-air technology (check the pipe next to the headlight going straight into the frame). The bike is supposed to produce nearly 70 hp when de-restricted (the power output is restricted to 40 hp in Japan, in Italy the power output is given to 67 hp).

This scan was kindly sent to me by Gerald, Canada. The word ”seven” at the bottom of the page shows it is a page from a larger brochure, unfortunately Gerald didn't know what it is. ”Someone sent that to me in 1999. I can't remember who. Its probably the
Canadian market brochure.”

唉,不過,隨著時間都成過去了....

對不起! 我忍不住要罵一聲 E04! 真是一台好車啊! RGV-係列 2衝中經典中的經典
又想起 劉德華 烈火戰車中的場景 我比風還要快~~~
雖然片中 都是用 NSR250SP 跟 NSR250SE 還有 TZR250 但是 可惜少了台RGV去演出
不然 真片子就完美無缺了 三大王牌 2衝的對決一定很好看
不過我是個 SUZUKI迷 SUZUKI的車就是性能會讓人陶醉其中
後來GP場上 APRILIA的 RS250的V-TWIN 聽說也是移植RGV的引擎過去的
所以 APRILIA在GP250的稱霸 也代表著 SUZUKI的引擎技術有過人之處~

VJ23更是經典中的經典阿~
車少到哭腰
APRILIA RS250的確是用VJ22的引擎
再加上APRILIA自家的調教原廠輸出就可達70P馬力
"據說"在更一步強化後可達90P左右的輸出
整個就直達GP250的水準
不過也就只是"據說"
沒看到實車也只能抱著觀望的態度囉
