In recent months, swarmed a lot of interesting and high-frequency memory modules. Some of them are from here not too well-known manufacturer of GSkill, unfortunately it is a shame because GSkill definitely among the top such as Kingston or Corsair. At least in this world is perceived by people. We will look at a series TridentX, it offers maximum performance and an affordable price yet, it is especially true for the 2400 .
2400 MHz are already high clocked memory that each processor not fade. These are designed for the platform Ivy Bridge. But AMD Bulldozer os Sandy Bridge-E can working with it too.
spec
Bookmark CPU-Z shows us the basic information not only about memory, but also a test report. XMP memory runs at 2400 MHz mode as a timed 10-12-12-2T and 1.65V voltage. It is also a four gigabytes kits that are equipped with chips, Hynix or Samsung. It depends on the piece, it can therefore vary.
In a simple plastic package we get a smaller bonus sticker pleasing. Moreover, these frames are interesting also because it can simply unscrew the red part of the deficit and now we have one low-profile memory. If we want better cooling and higher bars RAM, I recommend passives mounted back again.
Testing Platform:
AMD FX-8150
AMD liquid cooling all in one
ASUS Crosshair V Formula (bios 1301)
2x 4GB GSkill TridentX
Radeon HD7870
Corsair AX1200
Results and "OC"
The basic timing adjustment at 10 to 12-12-1T memory ran without the slightest problem, so I then rushed straight to the clock. The AMD platform motherboard, and this is directly DOCP profile and it is correctly identified all specifications OC profile.
2432 MHz at the same timing ran like butter
Higher 2504 MHz still OK with 1.65V.
2528 MHz already the first failure, but I increased the voltage slightly and it was a problem, the voltage around 1.688V for the memory is still safe (of course, CPU-NB voltage help too).
2540 MHz and 1.7V
The first error is insoluble basic timing came at a frequency of 2552 MHz. It did not increase the voltage at 1.73V
Different settings 11-13-13 and again error.
And this is actually my testing ended slowly. At the moment, but I had no idea ... So I increased the RAM voltage to 1.75V (and slightly in the CPU and IMC) and hoped for the best. After about 19 waveforms (ie, almost at the end) appeared blue najendou death and I was forced to manually restart. After rebooting I waited an unpleasant surprise - nothing is happening. LED lights only on the GPU, possibly after the next restart of the DRAM. I tried various tricks, of course, based on my experience, including testing of other slots individually. Nothing did not lead to success: ( .
So, my risk = my fail :). I thought, I have Hynix, but seems at Samsung chips :)...
And yet again I want these frames and I'm not afraid to recommend it. If you are looking to 8 gigabytes dual channel rams with high performance and good looks and decent overclocking potential to a reasonable value, I can almost sing to the heavens :).
PS: after RMA will be Ivy Bridge minireview+test
