From the time IHS was introduced on Tulatin CPU, HSF makers were made believe that Intel IHS is almost perfectly flat with tolerance of 1/10000mm at 4 corners. (Damn AVC for not sharing secrets)
However during 2003 IDF I challenged Intel Thermal speaker from their Malaysia lab with this, and they confessed IHS was in fact concaved down slightly (that explained why earlier P4 performed better thermally after lapping its IHS) I shared this information with BillA and Cather back then and there were a few pretty good performing products came out from us. ;tongue;
If the new IHS are convex as OnePageBook showed, then it really make HSF maker's job much easier. After all, even metal are not "rigid body"....oops, did i just reveai the secret, OnePageBook?;x;
